Cultural Tour: Visit to Borobudur & Prambanan Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temple

In the morning, you will visit the Borobudur temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will have a superb view of the 4 active volcanoes of Java: Merapi, Merbabu, Sindoro and Sumbing. The temple is built on a hill, composed of nine piles of terraces, six square, and three circular, crowned by a central dome called the Stupa. This temple was decorated by 2,672 bas-reliefs and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated in a perforated stupa. Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Shailendra Dynasty, this temple is designated in Javanese Buddhist architecture, The Mandala a design of the mixture of indigenous Indonesian ancestor worship to achieve Nirvana.

For lunch, we will take a break and prepare a local lunch in a Javanese family who lives in the middle of rice fields near Prambanan temple.

In the afternoon, you will visit Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia. This temple complex consists of 240 temples, with the main temples dedicated to the Hindu Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. After exploring the Prambanan complex, you can stroll through the gardens and visit the Sewu Temple complex, which also comprises 240 temples dedicated to Buddha.

Return to your hotel with lots of great memories in your head.

Borobudur Temple and Prambanan are open every Tuesday – Sunday.
