DAY 8: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Cave of Heads

  • After an early start, you will set off by car between 5:00 and 5:30 AM to discover two gems nestled in the jungle of East Java. Standing approximately 120 meters tall, its multi-tiered structure—with several streams cascading simultaneously into the valley below—makes for a spectacular sight!
  • Continue your visit to Tumpak Sewu's neighbor, Tetes Cave. This lesser-known cave, with its unique character, attracts adventurers and nature lovers. In particular, the cave is nestled within small waterfalls, which you must traverse to reach it. This allows for a combined experience: admiring a fascinating cave and exploring the beauty of the waterfall. For both visits, you'll hike down into the valley and cross small streams to reach the waterfall/cave. Don't forget to bring water shoes, a waterproof poncho, and a waterproof pouch for your smartphone.
  • Transfer to Ketapang, Banyuwangi

DAY 9: Ascent of the spectacular Kawah Ijen – Crossing to Bali and stay in Pemuteran (Breakfast)

  • After a drive of about an hour, you reach Paltuding (at an altitude of 1,800 meters), the starting point for the ascent. The hike is accessible and gradual, taking around an hour and a half to reach the crater rim, which rises to 2,386 meters. The first light of morning reveals a spectacular landscape, where volcanic mists blend with the lake's intense colors.
  • On the site, you can also observe the impressive work of the sulfur porters, who carry loads of up to 60 to 125 kg in their traditional baskets every day — a striking testimony to life around the volcano.
  • After enjoying this unique moment (the best time to visit is between 05:00 and 07:00), descend towards Paltuding and then return to your hotel for breakfast and a moment of rest.

Note:

  • For safety reasons related to volcanic gas emissions, descending into the crater is currently prohibited.
  • The phenomenon of blue flames is therefore not included in the program.
  • People with respiratory problems are advised to consult their guide before the climb.
  • The site may be closed on certain Fridays during the first week of the month for environmental reasons.

In the late morning, transfer to Ketapang Port to cross the strait to the island of Bali by ferry.

Upon arrival at Gilimanuk Port, you will be welcomed by your Balinese driver and then driven to your hotel in Pemuteran, a charming coastal region renowned for its peaceful landscapes and pristine underwater scenery.
