Day 1: Welcome to the heart of Java

Very quickly, a delicious smell wafts from the kitchen: your welcome lunch is in preparation. You are participating in the preparation of a Javanese dish, the Tumpeng, A cone of yellow rice surrounded by local specialties. In Javanese tradition, this dish is offered to celebrate important moments and to wish happiness and prosperity.

Sitting together in a warm and sincere atmosphere, you savor this first Indonesian meal — a simple yet precious moment that marks the beginning of your adventure.

In the afternoon, the time is yours. Perhaps you'll choose to relax on the terrace of a traditional house, or go for a stroll through the village. Rice paddies stretch as far as the eye can see, children play near the paths, and rural life gently reveals its secrets.

Day 2: Village life and authentic encounters (Breakfast – Lunch)

Day 3: Visit to Borobudur Temple

After breakfast, you will visit Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist temple, surrounded by Java's active volcanoes: Merapi, Merbabu, Sindoor, and Sumbing. The temple is built on a hill, composed of nine tiers of terraces—six square and three circular—crowned by a central dome called a stupa. This temple is decorated with 2,672 bas-reliefs and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated in a perforated stupa. Built in the 9th centuryth century during the reign of the Shailendra Dynasty, this temple is designated with Javanese Buddhist architecture, The Mandala a design of the mixture of indigenous Indonesian ancestor worship to reach Nirvana.

Day 4: Yogyakarta, cultural heart of Java & Prambanan temple (Breakfast)

The visit continues at Sonobudoyo Museum, one of the most important museums in Java, where you will discover the richness of Javanese culture through its collections of art, architecture and history.

You will then visit a batik craft workshop, an emblematic textile art of Yogyakarta. This traditional technique, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, reveals all the know-how and finesse of Indonesian craftsmanship.

Before the lunch break, discover the famous Pasar Burung Ngasem, the city's historic bird market, a unique and very lively place, deeply rooted in local culture.

In the afternoon, departure for the visit of the majestic Prambanan Temple Compounds, one of the most impressive sites in Indonesia. Built in the 9th century by the Sanjaya dynasty, this complex is considered the largest group of Hindu temples in the country and one of the most refined in Southeast Asia.

The site consists of over 300 temples, dominated by three main shrines dedicated to the Hindu trinity: Brahma, Vishnu and ShivaOn the temple walls, magnificent bas-reliefs recount the epic of Ramayana, a mythological story that continues to inspire traditional Javanese dance and shadow theatre performances today.

Day 5: The royal city of Solo & the mysterious Cetho Temple (Breakfast)

This morning, departure for Surakarta, better known as Solo, one of Java's major cultural cities. The approximately 1.5-hour journey takes you through the landscapes of the Javanese countryside.

Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Pasar GedeThe city's iconic traditional market. This vibrant place perfectly reflects the daily life of the inhabitants: colorful stalls of fresh vegetables, fragrant tropical fruits and delicious Javanese pastries.

The discovery continues with a visit to the prestigious Pura MangkunegaranThe former princely palace, founded in the 18th century, is an ideal complement to a visit to the Sultan's Palace in Yogyakarta, allowing you to deepen your understanding of the history and culture of the Javanese nobility. Inside the palace, you will discover precious royal collections, traditional objects, and cultural heritage that testify to the refinement of the Javanese court.

In the afternoon, we headed towards the slopes of the majestic Mount Lawu, a region renowned for its tea plantations and terraced vegetable crops. You will visit the fascinating Cetho Temple, a unique site dating back to the 15th century.

Often nicknamed the "erotic temple" because of some symbolic sculptures related to fertility rites, this sanctuary testifies to an important period of transition in the history of Java, marking the gradual shift from Hindu civilization to Muslim influence.

Located in a spectacular natural setting, surrounded by mountains and plantations, the temple also offers magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

Day 6: From Solo to the spectacular Mount Bromo (Breakfast)

This morning, departure from Surakarta towards one of Indonesia's most iconic landscapes: the majestic Mount BromoThe journey is made in a comfortable car, taking the motorway to the city of Probolinggo, before continuing along a mountain road offering superb panoramas.

Along the road, the landscapes gradually transform: green hills, traditional villages and vast terraced vegetable crops bear witness to the intense agricultural life in this fertile region of Java.

In the afternoon, you will leave for a gentle ascent of Mount BromoOn foot, far from the usual morning crowds. This approximately three-hour round-trip hike allows you to discover the volcano in a more peaceful and intimate atmosphere. The silence of the volcanic landscape, the vast expanses of sand, and the mist that sometimes floats above the caldera create an almost surreal ambiance. With a bit of luck, you might witness a magnificent sunset In this unique landscape, a particularly magical moment where the colors of the sky blend with the volcanic reliefs.

This experience offers a different and privileged approach to Mount Bromo, often considered one of the highlights of a trip to Java. 

Day 7: Sunrise over Mount Bromo – Drive to Tumpak Sewu (Breakfast)

Wake up very early to experience one of the most spectacular moments of your trip to Java. At 2:30 am, departure from your hotel in jeep 4×4 to reach, after approximately 45 minutes on the track, the famous viewpoint of Mount Penanjakan, the most impressive viewpoint overlooking the great Bromo caldera.

At dawn, the landscape gradually reveals itself: the sea of ​​sand, the active volcanoes, and the surrounding mountains appear in a magical light. The sunrise over the massif of Mount Bromo remains an unforgettable experience and one of the most iconic panoramas in Indonesia.

After this exceptional moment, you will borrow a less frequented path for a short hike down to the viewpoint of Seruni Point, located approximately 300 meters lower than Penanjakan. This walk allows you to discover the beauty of the site in a calmer atmosphere, away from the tourist crowds.

You then rejoin your jeep to return to the hotel. Time to freshen up and enjoy your breakfast.

Mid-morning, departure for a grand journey through eastern JavaTransfer to Lumajang, gateway to one of Indonesia's most fascinating volcanoes: the Tumpak Sewufamous for the magnificent waterfall and view of Mount Semeru.

Day 8: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Cave of Heads

Get up early, then depart by car at 5:00/5:30 AM to discover two gems nestled in the jungle of East Java. First, there's Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, one of the island's most famous waterfalls due to its breathtaking beauty. It measures approximately 120 meters high and its multi-fall design, with several streams cascading simultaneously into the valley below, makes it truly spectacular! 

Continue your visit to Tumpak Sewu's neighbor, Tetes Cave. This lesser-known cave, with its unique character, attracts adventurers and nature lovers. In particular, the cave is nestled within small waterfalls, which you must traverse to reach it. This allows for a combined experience: admiring a fascinating cave and exploring the beauty of the waterfall. For both visits, you'll hike down into the valley and cross small streams to reach the waterfall/cave. Don't forget to bring water shoes, a waterproof poncho, and a waterproof pouch for your smartphone. 

Transfer to Ketapang, Banyuwangi 

Day 9: Ascent of the spectacular Kawah Ijen – Crossing to Bali and stay in Pemuteran (Breakfast)

An early start to experience something truly exceptional in the heart of one of Indonesia's most fascinating volcanoes: Kawah IjenThis volcanic site is famous for its immense acidic lake with turquoise reflections, considered the largest sulfuric lake in the country.

After about an hour's drive, you reach Paltuding (1,800 m altitude), starting point of the ascent. The hike, accessible and gradual, lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes to the edge of the crater, which reaches an altitude of 2,386 meters. The first light of morning reveals a spectacular landscape, where volcanic mists mingle with the intense colors of the lake.

On the site, you can also observe the impressive work of the sulfur porters, who carry loads of up to 60 to 125 kg in their traditional baskets every day — a striking testimony to life around the volcano.

After enjoying this unique moment (the best time to visit is between 05:00 and 07:00), descend towards Paltuding and then return to your hotel for breakfast and a moment of rest.

  • For safety reasons related to volcanic gas emissions, descending into the crater is currently prohibited. 
  • The phenomenon of blue flames is therefore not included in the program. 
  • People with respiratory problems are advised to consult their guide before the climb. 
  • The site may be closed on certain Fridays during the first week of the month for environmental reasons. 

Late morning, transfer to the port of Ketapang Port in order to cross the strait to the island of Bali by ferry.
