DAY 1: Makassar-Rantepao/Toraja

  • Taking flight from Denpasar, Bali. Arrived at 08.15 a.m
  • Our guide will welcome you to the airport.
  • Depart to the southern part of Sulawesi, you will find a fertile, luxurious, and mountainous area. That is where we can discover caves, waterfalls, and large lakes.
  • Stop by a Bugis village and see the fabrication of the famous Bugis ship.
  • Continue to Pare-Pare
  • Lunch (by you) at a restaurant at the seaside
  • Continue to Rantepao
  • Check-in hotel
  • Free program in the afternoon / you can see the funeral ceremony (if possible).

Note: If your trip to Toraja involves a funeral procession, your guide will invite you to see the funeral procession. But it is to be remembered that the ceremony is authentic and not organized for tourists.

DAY 2: Toraja

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Depart at 8 am to visit Toraja.
  • During the midday, you will discover the fascinating region of Toraja. The tour is lead by a local guide for the ceremonial event in which we help you participate. Toraja people live in a house in the shape of a ship devoted to the water buffalo. The only animal capable of transporting the spirit of the dead and guiding them to their ancestor. The funeral ceremony is held for days and is a big event for Torajan. They put the bodies of the dead on the cliff instead of burying or burning them.
  • After, you will visit the cliff LEMO with the effigy of the mort (TAU TAU), cave Londa, the royal cemetery of Suaya, and a walk to Tampang Allo, another interesting site in Toraja.

DAY 3: Rantepao/Toraja

  • After breakfast, you will invited to visit Sa’dan Village. We can see the traditional cloth of Sulawesi.
  • Then, continue to Lempod village to discover the most beautiful terraced rice field typical of Indonesia. You stroll through an authentic village, rice field, and bamboo forest.
  • Lunch at Mentirotiku while enjoying the beautiful view of the rice field valley.
  • Go down until Tikala for about 1.30 hours.

DAY 4: Toraja

  • Visit the colored market of Makale or Rantepao.
  • Continue visiting the Ketekesu and Palawa villages with the traditional houses called Tongkonan.
  • In the afternoon, the trip continues to Bori. Bori is an area where you can find the traditional Menhir called Rante and the Bebedans graveyard, a trunk of an alive tree. Apart from that, you can walk through the village with the panorama of the rice field, walking around Tallunglipu village to discover the activity of the villagers.

DAY 5: Rantepao-Makassar-Denpasar/Return Flight

  • Depart in the early morning to Pare-pare through a superb mountainous route.
  • Stop by to taste the famous Toraja Coffee.
  • Lunch (by you) in a local restaurant with a bay view.
  • Flight Makassar-Denpasar/Return Flight
