DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN YOGYAKARTA

Stay in Yogyakarta
DAY 2: SELOGRIYO TOUR AND MEET THE LOCALS – BOROBUDUR
After breakfast, transfer to the region of Magelang, around 40km from Yogyakarta city center, or 1-hour travel by car. Then transfer to Selogriyo for around 30 minutes. You will hike to a hill passing the local’s houses and terraced ricefield. You will have the chance to see local people in their daily life. In the afternoon, you will visit Borobudur. Borobudur is one of the most visited temples in Indonesia. It is considered the biggest Buddhist temple in the country made of volcanic stones from the 8th century.

DAY 3: YOGYAKARTA CITY TOUR + PRAMBANAN
After breakfast, you will go to Prambanan, to visit the biggest and the most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia. It was built in the 9th century by the dynasty of Sanjaya. The temple consists of a total of 240 temples. It is devoted to the Trinity of God: Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. On the temple, we can see the reliefs of the Ramayana story. After visiting the temple, You will return to Yogyakarta to visit the Sultan Palace or Kraton. Kraton is still active as the residence of the royal family of Yogyakarta. The visit will show you the life, the philosophy, and the architecture of Java.
And then, you can continue to visit Tamansari or the former water palace of Sutan. This complex is ruined and only some parts of the Entrance Gate, some pools, a hidden mosque, and an underground passage are left to visit, yet it still can show us the beauty of the original building in the past. In the afternoon you can visit the birds market, the Batik industry, and the silver workshop.
